What is a Milestone/Assignment in SNHU courses?
Milestones--or weekly assignments--are building blocks for larger projects in your course. These assignments are parts of a whole. Each week, you will do an assignment and receive feedback from your instructor to improve or deepen your work, so by the end of your course you can
- Revise the parts
- Combine the parts into a whole final project.
Where are these assignments located and how can I begin them?
Each module or week will provide readings (chapters of a textbook, articles) or video resources, meant to prepare you for the week's assignment. Beneath these readings, you can find your week's assignments. They are usually titled with numbers and dashes. Open and closely read accompanying prompts, guidelines, and rubrics. These will help to guide your work.
Pro-tip:
Take note of outlines in your rubrics, these elements will probably reappear later in your final project. The important skills you are showing you can do, because you just learned them, will often appear in bold, as shown below.
You will receive feedback from your instructor for each milestone.
Where do I find the feedback I get on my milestones?
Brightspace > Your course > Assignments >Turnitin Feedback Studio: Open your graded milestones and click on your Turnitin Report for in-line feedback (not every instructor will provide this, but many do!) An image of the Turnitin Report bar is provided below.
The Grading Rubric: Found under "assignments," this is the rubric with your grade filled in along with the instructor's feedback.
Your instructor: reach out with questions, clarification or for more feedback. Sometimes, you might not understand all of that feedback. Here's how to ask the right questions so you can move forward. You'll also learn more throughout the course. When it comes time to compile the final project, you will use this feedback and new information to revise the milestones.

What resources are available to me as I begin and revise?
Your Class Materials: Be sure to read all assigned readings, going through the modules in order.
Your Guidelines and Rubric: Consider copying and pasting the prompt questions/provided outline into your document to ensure you have responded to all of them.
Academic Support Services: Book time with Academic Support Staff or get written feedback.
Putting it all together:
Review the rubric for the final project.
Now that the milestones are complete, it's time to combine them into one complete project. Consider the following:
- Do the milestones flow together with transitions between sections?
- When there is repeated information, can it be deleted in one area?
-
Have you addressed feedback from your instructor and/or peers?
- (For creative writing, be sure to only use the feedback that makes sense to your work.)
