Student Skill Series: Studying

Work smarter!

1. Take notes and review them often.

Keep notes from different classes separate from each other and label your notes with a topic and a date or relevant module. Try different note-taking techniques until you find a combination that works for you.

2. Vary your surroundings

Don't be afraid to study in different places or to adjust your environment at home. Varying where you study can help you remember what you are studying.

4. Pace yourself and break for movement.

Plan to study in small bursts. After 30 minutes, move around a bit before returning to your studying. Try a yoga break, or a quick walk.

Get together.

Reach out to other students in your class. Discuss your assignments and study together.

Make flashcards

Use the old-fashioned paper note cards or try and Online version like Quizlet or Anky. Record one thought/idea/stat/term per card. Review these often, not just before an exam.
