Finding and attending pre-scheduled sessions
Pre-scheduled tutoring (self-booked) and coaching (by referral) meetings take place in an online classroom where you can talk, type, share screens and collaborate with your tutor or coach.
This document explains how attend a session that is already scheduled. Need to make a meeting? Learn how to schedule a session here. *Don't mind the "tutor.com" branding inside our classroom. They built the interactive space we work in, but you are working with SNHU's coaches and tutors here!
**Attention: We recommend installing the Google Chrome internet browser (icon pictured below) before attending your meeting. It works best for our classroom. ***If you have any issues entering your session, please contact [email protected] or the IT Help Desk.
1. Five minutes before your session starts, log into Brightspace, open your course, and click Academic Support.
2. Find the blue banner for your session on the landing page. Use the LAUNCH button in the Academic Support Center to enter the classroom for your session. If you are early, it will be accessible five minutes before your session begins.
a. When the session opens, you will be inside our interactive classroom. Click the Microphone and Camera buttons to get started, Allow Audio and Video to interact with your coach or tutor. If you would rather not use cameras, let your tutor or coach know in the chat. We will match your preferences!
3. Communicate with your coach or tutor! Use the chat at the bottom of the classroom if you have trouble connecting audio. You can also opt to blur your background in the video settings, shown below.
4. Share your screen with your coach or tutor. Click the share icon on the top left to begin.
a. Choose a tab, window, or your entire screen, then click "Share." Your coach or tutor will then be able to see your paper, your course, your rubric; whatever you want them to help you with! To stop sharing, click "Stop Sharing" at the bottom of your screen.
5. When you're ready to end your session, click the title on the upper right, and choose "End Session."
6. You can view a recording of the session under “My Account” and "Previous Sessions."
There are many more tools you might use in your session. You can draw on a whiteboard, send files, edit and run code, even send a photo of your handwritten notes or math work! We hope you enjoy the interactive classroom and that the instructions above get you safely started.
Enjoy your session!
